This speech was read by Judith MacDonald, Grad February ’61, at the VHG School of Nursing Alumnae Luncheon on May 1, 2011, recognizing the 50th Reunion of the Class of 1961. It is a wonderful statement to the friendships made, kept and re-kindled over the years.
When I was little, I believed in the idea of one best friend, When I became a woman I learned that if you allow your heart to open life will show you the best in many friends. One friend will meet your Spiritual need. Another your shoe and hat fetish. Another your love for movies and music. Another will be with you in your season of confusion. Another will be your clarifier. Another the wind beneath your wings.Today we celebrate long friendships forged in the fire of our nurses training. We recall the challenges and successes, the ups and the downs, the fun and hilarity, as we progressed toward graduation. At this wonderful gathering today, with our dear February 1961 classmates beside us, we give thanks for fifty years of friendship.
