Verna McGregor (1925-2003), born in New Westminster, BC, studied nursing at VGH from 1948 to 1955. Her studies were interrupted due to contracting tuberculosis (T.B.), which also afflicted other classmates at the time. She recuperated at Tranquille and returned to complete her degree. worked extensively abroad, she retired from the VGH Emergency Department and enjoyed travels thereafter.

"During the past year or so several of our classmates have had to leave for Tranquille. Those there at present are Margaret Lutz, Verlie Matheson, Verna McGregor and Betty Pringle. We are glad that Shirley Emigh is able to be here for Graduation. All these girls have been, and are, missed very much. Let us hope that they will, one and all, be using the other half of their return ticket in the very near future."
